Were naming our baby girl Eliana ( El - ee - ah - na ) and I wanted to call her Ellie for short . Is there any other way to spell Ellie besides the obvious without people mispronouncing it? Were already having issues when people read the name they pronounce it Elaina or Eli-ANN-a. I don't want to add any other letters to Eliana because she's already going to have a long enough name without added letters. I was thinking Eli, but don't want people calling her E-Lie or something like that . What do you guys think is the best spelling to go with ?
anyone can be passionate, it takes real lovers to be silly

I agree.
Not Eli.
I would just spell it Ellie. There is no reason it needs to match Eliana exactly.

Agreed. Ellie is the best option, but if you must be different, I guess you could drop the 'e' at the end. Eli would definitely be pronounced E-lye
