I haven't posted on here a whole lot since the boys were released from the NICU, but I'm hoping you ladies might have some insight here.
We starting trying rice cereal around 6 months actual age (4m adjusted). Since then, we're now on 2 meals a day. Tage eats like a champ. He is a porker.
Taylen on the other hand has no interest whatsoever, still. I have tried everything I can think of. I've tried every fruit, veggie, and even MEAT baby food I cound find. I've also tried putting fruit into a mesh feeder and he won't even take that. He won't even take watermelon which I am baffled by.
We have our 9 month (actual age) checkup on the 26th but I'm wondering if I should talk to our pedi sooner about his feeding. When I put it in his mouth he gags it out right away and spits everything out. He doesn't choke on it, but he gags as soon as it is in his mouth.
Any thoughts? Suggestions?
Re: 30 weekers: solids question
I think it might be the textures, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure if he's gagging right away from the texture of it, or if he's truely that picky of an eater? The main concern for me is the gagging. I mean, he won't even swollen anything because he just gags and spits it all back out.
noah is a 30 weeker, and is now 13.5 mo/11adjusted.
He had/has a texture issue. gagged and gagged for so long, it drove me crazy. but, one day it clicked, and he loved food, if it was very very pureed. Trying to change him to thicker/chunkier foods was very frustrating as well...he refused, and gagged. Then, one day, he just started to act interested, and wanted my food, and we haven't looked back(going on 3 weeks). he still refuses to touch a lot, but will eat it from my fork, or from my hand, like as in a sandwich. So, we are still working on touching things, and the foods that i know he won't eat at all, im still holding off on- like noodles and other slimy foods - yes watermelon too.
the preemie clinic dr said that it was completely normal for noah, because a lot of preemies have texture issues.
Good luck!
