Family drama - wdyt?

DH's aunt and uncle are expecting a second child. The entire family is moritifed. Their first is 7 years old, 115 pounds (yep, that's a BMI in the 40s), rude, violent, and as DH's grandpa says "has a listening problem." He's thrown rocks bigger than fists at adults heads, over the 4th of July kept pushing down his 15 month old cousin and stealing his toys and punches family members when he gets angry, which is rather often.

My MIL and I were talking about it and I'm even more confused than I was before. Apparently the 7 year old was born 2 months early at over 7lbs. He was never put into NICU and DH's aunt didn't have GD. I'm sure medically speaking that is all a possibility but it doesn't seem probable. I wasn't around until he was over a year old so I have no grounds to doubt her. Not to mention how could I doubt her, I don't know her medical chart.

Now help me with our newest confusion. DH's cousin told us on May 7th that his mom was pregnant. DH's aunt is telling everyone the due date is Jan 19th. So basically she would have had to tell her son that she was pregnant right when she found out. I would never tell a child that young that yearly, but that's just me. She has been following up her, "I'm due the 19th of Jan" with "but I bet I won't make it past November."

It just screams BS. I really hope it isn't because if she's trying to make it sound like she's going to have another pre-me that's horrible. First it's completely disrespectful to those who have had pre-mes and all the stress and heartache that goes with it and secondly it's bizzare and immature. I'm assuming it'd be an attention grabbing stunt but I don't know. I'd like to think that she told her then 6 year old that she was going to have a baby the week she found out over lieing about the date to make people believe her baby came super early.

Obviously you don't know more than I told you but what would you guess? She blabbed to her almost 7 year old son or she's due earlier than she's telling people to get attention?

  • the way you describe it, i wouldnt be surprised either way. people do lots of stupid things for attention. but i wouldnt be surprised either if the 7 YO found out/overheard etc.

The whole thing sounds a little strange. Is it possible that her first child wasn't actually early but she just told people that for attention like she could be doing with this baby? I don't understand her saying "I bet I won't make it past November." I can't imagine planning on my baby being born 2 months early.
  • I'd spray that kid in the face with a water hose if he ever can near my baby....(but I grew up w/ older brothers)

I call BS. That's a big ole' preemie to have. Maybe the stork wasn't early the preacher was late, but if she tells this 'energetic' child that the baby is very delicate maybe he won't be so rough ??
