BLWers...

I have to ask...  I knew this was going to be messy, but holy cow!  We're only doing 1 or 2 meals a day right now, and usually 1 of those meals is more snack (fruit and veggies), but when we do a "real meal" I literally have to take DS into the shower and rinse him off.  There is food EVERYWHERE, including his hair because he likes to wipe his hands off on his head.  How am I going to do this when we're eating multiple times a day consistently??  Or when we are at restaurants?  Not to mention the number of outfits we're gonna go through.  Maybe I just need better bibs...

On the plus side, it's making for some adorable videos.

  • I used to feed L in only a diaper and shower him immediately after, it does get less messy!

  • Get the bibs that are plastic with the bibs. Put a trashbag around the highchair on the floor. Feed baby in a diaper. We usually just use washcloths to clean her off but I save the really messy meals for bath nights.

We have bibs that are basically smocks.  You can find them on Amazon or Ikea, just do a search for baby smocks.  They cover the front and arms but the back is open.  It attaches around the neck with velcro.  It helps so much!

  • We use the bibs with the catch-all pocket at the bottom and LOVE those. They work wonderfully and we never get food on the clothes anymore. We use a wet washcloth for clean up as well, which works a lot better than wipes. They do get a lot more efficient and less messy as time goes on.

And when you get to 3 meals a day,  you will do fine. It becomes just another part of the routine. I remember before DD was eating solids, I thought, how am I gonna start fitting 3 meals into my daily schedule? But the time finds itself, as well as time for clean up.

  • I still feed her in just a diaper a lot of times :P She actually got really good for awhile, we don't even use bibs anymore (mostly because she pulls them all off), but some things are messier than others. The other day she took two handfuls of yogurt and massaged it into her hair, that was a very early bath day.

Ha ha.  Our LO didn't make that much of a mess.  Still, I would look the waiter right in the eye and say, "I promise.  We're going to leave a big tip." Not to mention the number of outfits we're gonna go through.  Maybe I just need better bibs...
