Do you think anyone on CL will buy my Medela PIS?

I basically wasted almost $300 on it :(

My milk NEVER came in (despite pumping for nothing every 3 hours for 2 weeks)... so I think it's time to get rid of it since it is just taking up space (and makes me sad when I look at it).

FI thinks we should put it on Ebay, but I told him we might have more luck on CL.

However, when I was shopping for a pump there was no way I was going to buy a used one. I know you can get new tubing and stuff for it, but do people know this stuff when they are shopping for one?

WDYT? Should I just list it and see what happens? How much should I list it for?

  • I think it's worth a shot. I'd do a search and see if there are other pumps on there and figure out what people are charging for them, and then price it according to how much you care about selling it quickly vs. getting the most money for it.

I think most people looking for a pump know you can replace the tubing, etc., but I'd explicitly state that in the listing, and let people know that it is used, but only gently. Honestly, it could be a really good deal for someone, since the motor probably still has a lot of life left on it. GL!

  • Thanks! I will :)

The only other PIS listed in the last week is priced for $250! and she used it for 3 months! There is no way she will get that!

  • I put my Ameda pump on CL and it sold in about a week! I paid $160 for it and sold it for $75. I forgot to remove the listing and received about 5 more emails within a month asking about it. Look on your local CL and see what the cheapest pump is going for and go from there to price it.

very well said!  I would def. look around on there & give it a shot & see what you get.

  • We had a charity garage sale for my mom's group and a couple of people donated PISA that we sold for $50 a piece.  So I would say, yep...people will buy them!

  • I sold mine for $75 (listed for $100)

  • I've seen a lot of used pumps selling on eBay, so I'd think you would have some interest on CraigsList too.

  • I sold mine on CL for $150 the very same day I posted it.  Based on the number of emails I received, I definitely could've sold it for more.   Maybe it just depends on where you live and what people will pay.

  • I sold mine (the EXACT same one, exact same situation - my milk never came in) on Ebay for I think it was $180-200. I just explained that all you had to do was buy new tubing or whatever. I think you could do either, but Ebay reaches a much bigger audience..
