XP Feeding on Demand/ Daily Schedule

XP on 3-6

Do you feed your LO on demand still or do you have a set schedule?

Our day revolves around when LO wakes up and eats, which are different every day.  He eats pretty regularly every 3 hours (except at night) and sometimes it makes for a weird schedule. For example, he ate at 6 pm and started getting fussy and sleepy at 7-7:15. So does that mean he should take a little nap and then eat at 9? I ended up nursing him a little bit and putting him to bed for the night.

So do you have a set time that you put LO to bed and a set time you wake him/her up in the morning?

TIA!

Re: XP Feeding on Demand/ Daily Schedule

  • I feed on demand. I'm too forgetful to follow a feeding schedule. Plus, I get hungry at different times each day I'm sure my baby does too. I try to have her in bed by 8pm but that doesn't always work. I don't wake her up in the morning unless we have an appoinment.

If Alice gets fussy in the evening like she needs to go to bed, I put her to bed which includes eating. Sometimes I nurse her at 7:30 and then I'm nursing her again at 8pm. For us in the evenings I just feed her as much as wants, she tends to cluster feed. We EBF so that may make a difference as to what we would do if we used formula.

  • I also feed on demand.  I am nervous for daycare to start in 3 weeks or so!  I have not been giving him a bottle as often either b/c he basically refuses to take one from me.  He will take one from friends that watch him though, so I am thinking we will be ol with daycare.

  • On demand. As far as bedtime, she eventually began a pattern and we just went with it.

  • We feed him when he is hungry and let him sleep when he is tired. This seems to work for us, though he doesn't STTN I don't think that has anything to do with our "method"
