Anyone else's LO still not sleeping more than 4 hours at a time?

On a good night, DD sleeps from about 8:30-12:30 and then 1-5.  After that I can usually get her down one more time until about 6 or 7.  I really wish she would sleep longer stretches at this point!  I have tried leaving her in her crib and just soothing her, but she keeps crying. I have tried picking her up and trying to put her back to sleep but she also keeps crying.  The only way I can get her back to sleep is by nursing her.  Any suggestions??

  • That is our exact schedule, just an hour different.  Jessica sleeps from 9:30-1 or 2, then up around 5 or 6, then up for the day between 8 and 9.  I've also tried soothing her in other ways, but nursing is the only thing that works.  She also still eats 10-12 times in a 24 hour period and her naps are mormally 30-60 minutes long.  We have our 4 month appt today so I plan on discussing all of this with the pedi.

  • Alice usually sleeps 3 hours or less at night. A good night for us is getting up only 2 times. I get up and nurse her every time. I've tried to soothe without nursing but its just quicker to nurse her.

Although, last night she did sleep 9 hours straight for the first time ever... either that or I have learned to get up and nurse her while sleeping. I know that this won't happen again any time soon. I'm sure tonight I'll be back to getting up every 3 hours or less.

  • We are usually up every two hours. DD is going on 5 months old now and still isn't sttn. She also refuses to go to bed any early than 11 pm.

  • We still get up at least 2x anight. From what I've learned in lll this is very normal for bf babies. They need to nurse at night because prolactin levels are highest then and they get 50% of their daily calories at night. Ds sleeps in our bed so its fairly easy for to nurse At night

  • I am SO glad to see all of you saying this. I felt like all I was seeing was STTN and why did they suddenly stop? My little guy will go for  6 hours if he is REALLY wore out. Though he loves a long nap in the afternoon and we don't try to inflict any sort of schedule on him. He knows when he is hungry and tired and we just go with that. He can't really tolerate more than 4 oz. still, we try every other bottle being 5oz or if he goes a long time will offer 6oz. but it seems he just spits it up and until he can have more than that in his belly, I think he'll continue to wake up because he is hungry. I'm ok with it because I know it's not forever and though I am quite tired, I'm not "concerned" this stage will pass by and soon I'll be missing our middle of the night time together I'm sure!
