Labels for school

For those of you who have been down this road, what kinds and amounts of labels do I need to buy?  He will be eating school lunch so I don't have to pack a lunch (and I already have labels for cups, etc)......I know I'll need a bag tag, and definitely some coat tags, but do I need to label his shirts/pants?  What about shoes?

Re: Labels for school

  • I use mabel labels and they are awesome. I got them for Bailey when he was born since he started daycare at 12 wks. All of the bottles still have Bailey Herndon on them (poor bryce, everyone thinks he's bailey). I have clothing tags whcih are little squares and I have the mini labels which I used for cups and bottles. The clothing tags are still in Bailey's infant clothes even after tons of washing they have stayed on. I have Bailey's extra clothes that we have to keep at school labeled but I don't label the ones that he wears or his shoes.

ETA: the clothing labels I use are the tag mates not the iron on ones. You can get a combo deal which is what I did 2 years ago.

  • Ditto Daisy.  We love our Mabels Labels.  I did a Camp Pack for each kid.  Comes with different sizes including the tag mates and 2 metal nametags.  I even used the round shoe ones on top of the bottles- they are totally fine going thru the dishwasher daily.  I think it was like $30 but they lasted Gavin until just recently and he's always been in daycare so we label EVERYTHING.  I really love these labels!

I'm guessing you have to send a change of clothes to school with him?  I just put a set in a large ziplock bag and wrote her name on the bag.

  • We are using NameBubbles for daycare.  I like their shoe labels.  The clothing labels are pretty good, but they do loosen up after lots of washes.  Growing up, my mom stamped all our clothes and that lasted well through washing.  Cheaper than labels and she could use it on books, bags, all sorts of things.

We used Cherry Hill Designs. Their labels are supercute and they have lasted quite some time. I think we've been using ours for nearly a year.
