S/O BW - anyone else's LO refuse to be worn?

Babywearing was one of the things I planned to do from the moment I got pregnant. I registered for a Moby and a Baby KTan and got both at our shower (plus DH was given a Baby Bjorn by friends of his). But from birth, DD just has not enjoyed being worn. We've tried cradle, tummy-to-tummy, kangaroo, legs froggied in, legs out, etc, plus I've now tried a pouch and a ring sling as well, and she's really only content for maybe 10 minutes max before she fusses and wants out. If I take her out and just hold her, she calms right back down and is happy as a clam. At first I thought the Moby and Baby KTan were just too hot for her, but the lightweight pouch and ring sling are no better. So, I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else's LO refused to be worn? For now I'm just going to put the carriers away and try to bring them out when she's a little older.

  • LO went through alternate periods where he preferred the Ergo, Moby, or ring sling, and a few weeks where he refused to be worn at all.  Just keep trying every few days, and try getting moving the moment you put her on (or even during getting her on).  LO much preferred being worn for walks vs. just around the house, sadly for the state of my housekeeping.

  • DD2 hated the Moby. Most of the time I could just hold her in my arms anyway, so I just did that. We bought the Ergo when she was 6 months, and she's okay in that when we're out and about. I use it mainly for shopping if she falls asleep in the car (I can transfer her, and she'll go right back to sleep.) or hiking/long walks. For the most part, DH and I find it easier to carry her than wear her.

  • DS didn't like to be worn for the first few months. After that he loved it while we were out but didn't want to be worn much inside the house unless he was just really sleepy or sick. We just kept trying.

Yes, same problem here with a 7 week old (tried slings since he was 2-3 weeks).  I am hoping he does better as the weather cools and he is able to support his head.  He also hates being covered while nursing, so I think it has to do with stuff touching his head. <fingers crossed>

I wonder what would have happened if I had been ready with the sling from the first day and just worn it in bed in the hospital and put him in and out of it even while lying down. At the least it would have made me less clumsy with it.
