What kind of paint did you/are you going to use for the nursery?
Should we use the zero voc or is it ok to just go with a low voc? Any brand recommendations?

We are using Sherwin Williams Super paint, it is low voc.. But we have re-did 80% of our house and found spending the extra $5 for that paint was so worth it.
One coat in are dinning room covered the red (we painted it white).
We used Benjamin Moore Natura (Zero VOC). Mostly because I was doing the painting and don't like the fumes. I also found it very easy to clean off your skin with just soap and water.
It's a bit pricey at $50/gallon. (We only needed 2)

Behr. I actually painted the nursery a light blue-green before I got pregnant-- it was my office. When it turned out to be a boy, I decided to keep the colour as is.
It was painted early this year, and aired out well after painting, so I'm not overly worried about it.
In the big picture, I'm not entirely clear why people seem to focus so much on low-VOC paint-- there are other things that matter more for me-- but to each their own!

Our family of 5 is complete!! Love our boys!
We used Olympic Premium No-VOC paint (from Lowes). It was $18 and we only needed 1 gallon. We went with No-VOC not only because I was pregnant when we painted (and wouldn't want to be painting with anything full of chemicals and VOCs) but also for LO's safety (since regular paint can off-gas for one to even three years after it?s applied). I've also heard excellent things about Mythic paint which is also No-VOC.
For the PPS who weren't sure what VOCs are... VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compounds and they are found in certain products including paint, pesticides, cleaners, etc. - according to the EPA they are known to cause short-term and long-term adverse health effects.

We used Behr paint/primer and it was aweful! The room was oringally a light blue/purple and we covered it with white. The first coat did nothing to cover the original color and we had to go buy a second can. Even once that was on, you can still see the blue color if you look closely.
We also have plaster walls, so maybe this had something to do with it. I've heard good things about Valspar and Sherwin-Williams.
We used the same! And we had fans running & the window open while we painted. We just finished it up yesterday (some touch-ups on the accent stripes), and the smell was already gone this morning.
