**Tiffany**

A long while ago, you posted that you use the Little Buttons soother to help your daughter fall asleep on her own. Do you still use it? Does she still fall asleep peacefully? My daughter is over 4.5 months old. Do you think it's too late to introduce it? Any tips/hints/suggestions on how to help her fall asleep on her own? As always, I appreciate the feedback. You're awesome. Tia!

Re: **Tiffany**

  • Oh my gosh, yes we still use it! It's my lifesaver! I don't think it's too late to bring it in. It plays for 20 minutes, and it's awesome. If I don't feel like holding her to put her to sleep, I'll lay her in the crib on my arm and pat her butt. It usually tricks her into thinking I'm holding her, and when she's close enough to sleep I'll carefully remove my arm and stop patting her. It usually works. Though, I can tell when she goes from her usual happy, shrieking self and turns into Mr. Hyde  she's sleepy. If I can get her to bed immediately, she'll just turn her face to the mattress on her side and pass out herself. If I wait too long, then I have to put her to sleep. Have you tried playing white noise or leaving the vacuum running when she goes to sleep? I know it sounds weird, but every time I vacuum my house she passes out no matter where she is- her jumperoo, floor mat, crib, etc.

  • Haha. I just pictured my daughter falling fast asleep on her jumperoo sound machine the second I turn on the vacuum. I haven't used the vacuum as a strategic technique, but it's great to have it in my back pocket. Honestly, I haven't tried too hard getting her to fall asleep on her own yet. I mean I've made some attempts without CIO, and I'm getting the feeling that she's not quite ready. I really appreciate the info! Thanks, mama!!

  • Yeah, my girl isn't ready to CIO either. DH has been pressuring me to let her CIO since she was a week old, but I feel at this stage, she's crying because she needs something(and yes, H, needing to be put to sleep IS a need right now). I let my last child CIO at 8 months because I knew she wasn't hungry, or needed a diaper change, or gassy or anything- she just wanted to play. We had to CIO then to make her learn it was time to sleep, but it was more like Ferber: I would go in every 5 min, stuff a paci in her mouth and lay her down, cover with a blanket and kiss her forehead and leave the room. Had to do this for over an hour the first night, then 45 min the next night, then 20 min the next, and the next 3 nights it was less than 10 min she fussed and that was it. She didn't need to wake, she just did.

Anyway, hope that helps you out some! :)
