Kaiser-Childbirth class. any reviews?

Hello Everyone,

My husband and I are considering the "Preparing for Childbirth" class at Kaiser this September. It's a one day session and they charge $80. This is our first baby so we want to know what to expect during and after delivery. Has anyone taken this class? Was it worth it or a waste of time? I just don't want to waste my money on a class that isn't going to be worthwhile. I have taken the early & mid pregnancy classes so far (late pg is at the end of the month) and I haven't really learned anything new in these classes because I found all the info I need here on the Bump! (and I'm reading pg books)

    Actually, I'd like to know too.  I signed up for the class, but from my understanding, that and the "Coping with Childbirth the Natural Way" are both relatively new classes.

    I had no idea they offered that one...I plan to go natural so I will ask about it next week when I have my dr appt. Thanks for the info.

    No problem!  Apparently you have to schedule the prep class before the natural class and dates fill up quickly.  You're a month ahead of me, so I hope there's availability if you're interested.

    i have mine scheduled for august and i'd like to see some reviews on it too.  oooo!  i have a friend who just had a baby at kaiser a couple weeks ago.  i'll ask if she took it and get back to you ladies!

    I took it when pregnant with my DD (though I did the 4 week course - because the weekend class was full).  The breathing techniques were sort of helpful but I already knew most of the information presented.  It was very beneficial for my DH though!

    The only class I HIGHLY recommend from Kaiser is the BFing class.  It was so incredibly helpful and informative.

    By the way, I have been really happy with my care at Kaiser and hope you are too!

    ok, so my friend said that the preparing for childbirth class "went over breathing techniques and the stages of labor.  pretty much anything you would find online."  that's kind of the impression i've gotten from all of their classes thus far.  i'm really looking forward to the breast feeding class though.  do you recommend taking your partner to it?
