I currently have a Baby Jogger City Select. And I love it. Great for walks around the neighborhood and trips into town. However, we are planning a trip to Disney World in December and I'm concerned about flying with it and it's size/weight. Any thoughts on this? Would an umbrella type stroller be preferable? DD will be 6 months old at that time. Suggestions on an umbrella type?
Thanks!

I like our Maclaren Triumph, but I got it on sale ($30) so that makes me like it even more. The sun shade isn't great, but it's our quick trip stroller.
Another option is a company called Orlando Stroller Rentals which rents City Minis for use at Disney and they will deliver and pick up from your resort. That means you wouldn't have to lug a stroller through the airport or invest in a stroller that you may not use much at home. I love our City Mini for the giant sunshade, and it would give you an almost flat recline for your DD to sleep.
I agree with the PP's. I think an Umbrella would be much easier. You basically want something you can fold up quickly! (That is if you're staying on property.) Every time we had to take a bus we had to fold up and sometimes we had to do it very quickly. There is stroller parking outside every ride that is monitored by both cast members and surveillance camera so feel comfortable leaving your stroller behind.
We have a Maclaren and love it. If you don't want to lug your stroller, I've heard great things about the stroller company listed above. We will do this for our next trip since we will need a double and I don't plan on buying one.
We take our DS to Disneyland all the time so I thought I would chime in. We have a baby jogger city mini that works great for us. For Disney, we really appreciate the huge sunshade and the full recline. He naps in the stroller really well. It is very easy to fold up (one handed fold) for getting on the tram/train etc. We have flown with the city mini. We gate checked it, but I have heard some of the airlines have increased their restrictions on gate checking strollers and it might be too heavy for some now.
A lighter umbrella stroller would be even easier to travel with and fold up to jump on the train/tram/buses at Disney. However, I would make sure it has a full recline for naps and a sunshade. It also rains a lot in Florida so you may want a rain cover.
We also take our Ergo to Disney, but we switch back and forth between ergo and stroller throughout the day.
Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions! I was looking at buying a BJ City Mini just because of this trip. It's hard to justify the cost though. But renting is a great option! And I am planning on taking my sling and wrap, but sometimes my parents will be in charge of Viv and they would never feel comfortable with a carrier.
Thanks again!
We took a Chicco Liteway to Disney (and left our Maclarens at home). It was a great stroller for the trip....full recline and decent shade (that works really well with an add on).
I like that the bottom is a string backpack. It's hard to get off, but it makes a pocket where you can hide things out of view. We would leave a change of clothes and sippies in there. It's also a nice little "bonus" bag to have in case your child has some sort of accident and you need someplace to put dirty clothing.
Another thing...the front wheels pop off. Stroller theft is fairly rare at Disney, but it happens. If you are unsure about leaving your stroller, you can simply take a wheel off and toss it in your bag. My Maclarens have no way of securing them if you wanted to. There are no holes in the tires and you can't hook a stroller to anything in the park.
No, they are not good for infants. They are hard plastic and best for toddlers/kids who can sit up on their own for long periods.
I personally prefer to have my full size stroller there for a few reasons... parent cupholder, snacktray (not so important for a 6 mo old tho), storage basket for diaper bag, recline feature for impromptu naps. We always fly and gate check our stroller.
