The pedi gave us the green light for rice cereal at DS 4 month check up. We decided to give rice cereal a whirl just to "practice". He gets it about 20-30 min after his "dinnertime" feeding, then his bath, then his nighttime feeding to go down for the night. If you are feeding your LO solids, what's your schedule and how much do you give? We were just told rice cereal for 3-4 weeks, then a new food every 3-4 days if we wanted.
Also, I know they say rice cereal isn't proven to help sleep, but I'll be darned if he didn't drop a feeding as soon as we gave it to him. He now sleeps 8-3:30/4ish for his first stretch!
Re: Since we don't post enough about solids... :)
He's been getting rice cereal since 2.5 months. We used to feed bottle at 5pm, then rice at 7, then bottle at 8.
Now, since we're adding real solids, pedi said to feed solids then bottle all at one time so he gets the concept of meals instead of snacking every hour or two. He gets solids (for breakfast 2 tbsp oatmeal, for dinner 2 tbsp rice plus half a container of stage 2 veggies by Gerber) plus 5 oz bottle.
So, he's eating 5 oz at 5am, 8am (wth oatmeal), 11am, 2pm, 5pm (with rice and veggie), and 6 oz at 8pm for bed.
Now that we have gone through all of the veggies with no allergies, we will add a fruit with oatmeal for breakfast.
HTH!

thanks, it does! I'm just trying to get him used to eating with a spoon right now, so we're sticking to once in the evenings as almost a "dessert". He does get mad when I eat my oatmeal in the morning though
I'm just not sure how long to keep it up like this, since she recommended not to try any other foods for a month. He is EBF and doing just fine, although in the lower percentiles for weight and height (25 and 30). I'm not concerned since he's proportional, just small!
Sorry I didn't fully answer your question.
