Anti-Vax resources?

Hi, I never post here but I thought you ladies might be able to help  me. I am looking for online resources that promote no vaccinations. Can anyone link me to a few websites?

Thanks so much Smile

Re: Anti-Vax resources?

  • I'm sorry I don't have any links but do you think that AP = anti vax?

No I don't, but I think that there are probably more people on this board who are not vaxxing than on another board or at least know more about it than on my "home" board or another board. I didn't mean to imply that AP = anit vax, sorry if I offended anyone. Sad

No offense taken here. I didn't think that was what you meant but it sorta sounded like it so I was just checking. I am AP and believe firmly in vaccinating every child (as long as they aren't allergic). I usually try not to judge others decisions on parenting, I am very to each their own, but when it comes to vaccines others decisions can affect my child. With that being said I am glad that you are researching it though so you can make an informed decision.

I actually also believe firmly in vaccinations but a friend was asking me about not vaccinating her baby and for whatever reason believes I know all about it. Since I really don't have any info for that that side of the argument I thought I would look into it so I can pass along the info so she can make an informed decision. Big Smile

  • The problem is that there are no credible scientific arguments on the other side. I would pass on some websites to her that explain how to differentiate between credible and non credible arguments and leave it at that.

Just lurking but had to comment.  Ditto the above.  There are ZERO credible anti-vax resources available.  NONE!!!!!!!

  • If she has a lot of time to read, give her a copy of the book "merchants of doubt". Not about vax specifically but a very well written and very interesting look at how a small number of people create "scientific debate" in areas where there is none in order to confuse the public. It starts with the risks of tobacco. It talks about exactly the point that the idea of giving equal weight to both sides doesnt work when only one side is based on real science
  • The Dr. Sears Vaccine Book is pro-vaccination but on a slightly modified schedule from the CDC and was written to help people who are considering to not vax to at least do so selectively. As PPs said, there are no credible sources for 100% non-vax and even though you will certainly find websites and forums about it, it is the "credible" versus anecdotal that is the problem with many web-published things. Questions about vaxing would be a great thing for her to run by a doctor (or several) to help them pic a practitioner who is right for their family. Our very mainstream doctor supports us doing a shot visit every month rather than stacking so many at a time (though he tells me I am the rare alt schedule parent who actually comes in for all the extra appts. He said many parents lose track of the visits and the shots and their kids get way behind and that is why he advocates the CDC schedule even though he personally thinks spreading them out is fine).

  • check out mothering.com.  they have a vax board, and i'm sure people can provide you with links.  (we don't really vax (have done 3 in 18 months) after talking to our pedi, reading the vaccine book, etc., but i don't have any links handy)

If you're on Facebook, look up Vactruth.com (and I'm asuming that they are a real website as well), and Proud Parents of UnVaccinated Children. Also, Dr. Tenpenny on Vaccinations. Proud Parents get a little wacko, but you still find good research there.

Go through my blog and email me if you want. My 20 month old is unvaxed, but I don't want to get into a vaccination discussion here. I can state my reasons (which do not include autism!) and give you more one on one advice without being flamed for a parental choice. :)
