Babies: 0 - 3 Months

What do you do with extra diapers?

I have about 10-15 newborn size diapers that LO is too big to fit into now.  I'm not sure what to do with them.  I most definitely don't want to throw them away!

Re: What do you do with extra diapers?

  • I gave our extra newborns and size 1's to friends I know that are either pregnant or have babies that can use them.  I wasn't going to throw them out either!

  • do you have any expecting friends? One of DH's co workers gave us some left overs when DD was born.

I do and I have offered but I never heard back from her.  I have another friend across the country who is also expecting but I think it would be tacky to just send her a handful of diapers.

  • I pass them on to friends who are pregnant because I got lots of "hand me downs" -- just pass them on!

  • A friend of mine gave a couple to DD to put on her dolls.  The rest, she packed up with the newborn clothes and will use for her next baby.

I gave a buttload of NBs to a MIL because she knew someone who was having a baby. If I didn't give them to her, I would've held onto them and given them to another friend.

  • Save them for the next kid. ;) Or give them to someone who is expecting.

  • Last year I bought luvs and Addy has a bad reaction to them, so I donated them to the church nursery.

  • I keep meaning to dump mine at the YWCA; they run a women's shelter and I'm sure they can use 'em.
  • Donate to a domestic violence shelter. Many women have to flee their homes with their children and nothing else. They need everything to start over again.

  • We just yesterday got a package in the mail from an out of state friend with a 9 month old. It had a bunch of size 2 diapers and an outfit for our DS. I thought it was so sweet.

  • definitely donate them. I volunteer at a food bank and people are always asking if we have diapers.

  • LOVE the suggestion about domestic violence shelter!  A family member of mine had to do this when her LO was just two months old!  This is my first choice for diapers, outgrown clothes, and all that formula that you get at the hospital and mailed as samples :).  Thank you for suggesting that.

  • I donate them to either the church or the daycare.

donate them to a women's shelter or church OR make them into a small diaper cake to save for a future baby shower gift. right now my extras go to my mom who has a foster baby 2 months younger than my son.
  • Didn't read all the posts but I had a lot of extra diapers so I found a shelter and donated them.  Someone will need them/use them.  I also donated a bunch of clothes DD grew out of too quickly.  The shelter said that they had a lot of women who needed baby items.

Like a PP mentioned, I packed them away w/ #1's outgrown clothes and dug them out for #2.  It's been a few years, but they live forever in a landfill, they survived my closet too :)

Now, when #2 starts to outgrow, I use the almost-too-small diapers during the day when I can change her often until the stash is used up.

  • I had 5 friends due withing the six months after my due date- I've been passing them down. If you don't have any expecting friends give them to a pregnancy help center like CareNet- I know our local branch gives moms in need a bunch of free stuff from blankets to maternity clothes to a carseat even, I'm sure diapers would be greatly appreciated!

  • I didn't get a  lot as gifts, so as he got close to the next size I purchased carefully... and then I squeezed his butt into every last diaper I'd bought!!!  Huh?
