The "then and now" post reminded me that we have a lot of new preemie moms on the board these days. Maybe we should have a monthly post with a list of resources that we all found helpful during our NICU stays or have found since then.
I know some of you have found NICU photographers, groups that send care packages, and so on-lets share with our new families!
My contribution:
NICU baby books: Boy Version and Girl Version
Re: Resources for the new NICU mommies
Great idea, KCK! These are my important sources:
This book (The Preemie Book) https://www.amazon.com/Preemies-Second-Essential-Parents-Premature/dp/1416572325/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310491956&sr=8-1
Pictures of Hope - complimentary NICU photographers https://www.picturesofhopefoundation.org/
Also, I write in this every day https://www.amazon.com/Moms-One-Line-Day-Five-Year/dp/0811874907/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1310492204&sr=1-2
I was hoping you'd post the photographer link!

You're welcome! I should note that the photographer for my area (Lora Carr) shared with me that almost every infant photographer is willing to do this so it is worth contacting some in your area. They might not be listed because they don't know about it; Lora said she didn't know of a photographer who wouldn't do this. If your LO has any wires/stuff on them that you'd prefer aren't visible they will Photoshop them out so you can have a "normal" newborn photograph session. They can use backdrops & basically smoke & mirror it so you don't even look like you're at the hospital. It's amazing. It was only one of two times I had fun in NICU.
I love this thread and LOVED the preemie books!!! I wish I had one when my son was in the NICU. I think I might still print it out and use it now.
I found Inspire.com to be extremely helpful during my son's NICU stay. They have a great preemie support group. I also liked Naartjie Kids clothing store which has stores by us and carried cute preemie clothes in the store! It was nice to buy a cute outfit and be excited about it rather than trying to hunt and find A preemie outfit. Especially for boys!!
I'm glad you like the books! I have a feeling I'll be working on my DD's for months.
And Urbanflowerpot.....every time I thought of another resource to add, I realized that you had already done it! We are apparently on the same page today

Oh how I wish we had the power of a bookmark! I might start keeping a copy in Word to c&p each month...wait, that's a good idea!

I can't find my favorite one about preemie body language, but this covers most of it (just without pictures, I think) - up pumping and sleep typing right now so perhaps I can find it in the real-morning
