My OB mentioned that he would probably put in a JP drain when I have my c-section. (A JP drain is a simple suction drain that is placed under the skin to collect any extra drainage that could cause problems...and is removed by a nurse after 2 days or so).
Basically, from being chubby and having what amounts to back to back pregnancies, I've been left with a 'Mommy Flap'. I work at a wound care center, and I am super paranoid about getting a non-healing surgical wound...so he said the JP drain would help.
I've cared for a gazillion drains, and its not a big deal at all...but I'm a little leary of it for some reason.
Anyone have a drain put in during your c-section? Nurses, have you ever heard/seen/cared for a c-section pt with a JP?
Re: Did anyone have a drain with their c-section?
I didn't but hearing about it I wish I did. I had sooo much oozing and drainage after #2. It was so so gross.
So go fo it!
I didn't have one and I've never cared for someone that did have one post c-section (I'm a nurse).
I, however, did have a wound dihiscence and an infection. My abdomen was packed BID for 2 weeks before I could be closed back up. Awesome!
