Thanks for asking guys, I have been very busy. Summer vacation is great, we did move and should be done unpacking by tomorrow. If not, I may just throw anything in a box directly into the garbag, lol!
More importantly, I have been spending most of my day time feeding my child who has finally realized how cool food is and is making up for lost time! The last few weeks in particular have been just amazing. Jaxson is now eating everything! He still has trouble swallowing certain foods and will chipmunk (keep food in his cheek) then spit it out but he can eat anything that is soft, loves a bunch of foods, and would much rather have solids than his smoothies. He just had a round of bloodwork and his nutrition and iron levels are 100% normal although we are continuing to give him vitamins and iron until the next round of boodwork. Last week was the first time I ever was able to cook dinners specifically so J could participate. Cooking is one of my favorite things to do and I have been waiting 2 years for him to join us, I literally cried as he ate full meals of veggies, pasta, and attempted meat. He is like a teenage boy at this point, a eating machine. He takes a really long time to eat but once he is done, he wants to eat again within a half an hour.
Our feeding therapist left ou EI program and DH and I decided tonight that we are calling tomorrow and asking EI if we can take a break. We don't want to exit the program, we just think we can handle it from here out and would rather try ourselves than introduce yet another therapist. If that doesn't work, we would want to try again with EI.
J did just qualify for speech therapy as well but the evaluator gave us some tips and said his mouth coordination should improve with the eating. Since that eval, he is gaining 1-3 words A DAY! We start therapy with her in August although even she said she doesn't anticipate needing to see him more than a few times. All in all, this has been an amazing summer!!!
Thanks for asking! I hope everyone else is having as wonderful of a summer!
