Hey, ladies. I am pregnant with my second child. When my first was born 2 years ago, we purchased the Graco Snugride 32 car seat and it seemed to work out just fine so we had planned to use it for #2. However, after looking at Consumer Reports.org, I noticed the seat is rated the lowest out of the top 10 infant car seats! So, of course, I am now panicking thinking I put my child in danger by allowing him to use a sub-par car seat. I have heard lots of good things about the Chicco Keyfit. Do you guys have any recommendations as to which is a safer car seat? I really don't want to purchase a new car seat if it isn't necessary but I also want my child to be in the safest seat possible. Any opinions/experiences you'd like to share about either are greatly appreciated! : )
Re: Graco Snugride vs Chicco Keyfit
I wouldn't choose a car seat based on consumer reports. There have been plenty of reports in the past that their testing is flawed. Both those seats come highly recommended. We used the Graco SafeSeat with DS, and we never felt that he wasn't safe.
The safest seat is the one that fits your baby correctly, your car correctly, and is installed correctly.
