Hair straightener and BFing

I have a Brazilian blowout scheduled for Thursday, has anyone had this done? I'm still BFing, do you think its safe or should I pump and dump for a bit afterwards?

I wouldn't do it at all since the solution contains formaldehyde.

  • I called back and they said it shouldnt make a difference that I'm BFing. Their solution does not contain formaldehyde.

I'd call your Pedi because I wouldn't fully trust them saying it was safe it could have other chemicles  in it that you didn't question.

Its a hair straightening system that lasts 10-12 weeks. I used to get chemical relaxers but they dried out my hair, a Brazilian blowout makes your hair straight and smooth.

  • I wouldn't do it regardless of whether I'm BFing or not.

I saw a news segment on Brazilian Blowouts a few weeks ago and people have reported side effects such as headaches, nosebleeds, burning eyes and respitory problems.

Also, studies have shown that it does contain formaldehyde but only in trace amounts so they say it's considered safe and it also allows them to list it as formaldehyde-free even though it technically isn't.

IMO it's not worth the risks.

  • Definitely not worth the risk in my opinion so I wouldn't do it.
