Ok! I have been OOT since then, so haven't had the time to update.
FIL lost it. SMIL couldn't understand why getting a rooster in city limits was a bad idea. She took the rooster back, but kept the ducks. Apparently there are now 4 baby ducks residing in a kiddie pool. FIL is stll fuming. He keeps saying the are having duck for dinner. I wouldn't put it past him. FIL had a pretty colorful vocabulary when I spoke with him on saturday. SMIL is butt hurt and hasn't spoken to FIL since then.

HAHAHA! Do I need to go do a covert rescue, and relocate these ducks to a pond somewhere?
I bet the ducks will be gator food soon. There are ponds all over their subdivision. FIL will probably call the wildlife agency to see what to do with them. HOA will make them get rid of them. There is no way their neighbors will allow them to keep the ducks.
My mom grew up in the city, and they had a pet duck in the back yard. Kiddie pool and all. It worked out alright until a neighbor child accidentally killed it :-/
I am really hoping FIL can find someone with open space to care for them. He told dh he was going to call around to some clients with ponds. We will see. I will keep you guys updated.
FTR I think he is giving SMIL a hard time by calling them dinner. I highly doubt he will let harm come to the little guys.
I feel really bad for the ducks though. They're a lot of work, have personalities all their own and it's incredibly difficult to rehome them.
Do you know what kind they are (domestic/wild/breed)?
somebody left a white duck by the pond at my old apartment complex. It was crossing the street and almost got hit by a car so I went out and got it. It stayed by my door all night quacking and drove my dog nuts. I called a vet and she told me where I could take the duck to rescue it.

Rooster? As in cocck-a-doodle-doo?
::waits impatiently with bancbev::
*Edited because the bump doesn't like the sound that roosters make aparently.

Bwaha... it still doesn't like it. What about "kock"?
Oh weird. When I hit the quote button, "cocck" was still censored.
Also, MW, that's awesome. What's gonna happen when there are 4 full-grown ducks hanging around in the back yard?

I still don't understand why she got a rooster instead of a chicken. I can see wanting hens.
I can't believe the ducks have stayed... please keep us informed! Sadly, I see Peking Duck in their future.

But we have a lot of ducks around here anyway.
Send them to me!
