s/o "Boy" and "girl" stuff post below

At the library tonight DD and I happened upon a book called "Not all princesses dress in pink" by Jane Yolen and Heidi Stemple.  It's cute, and all about how girls can be princesses and at the same time play soccer, use power tools, save themselves, and wear any color of the rainbow.  It's a great message and delivered in a very effective way...totally worth checking out.

  • Sounds great - I remember hearing about a book about "modern" princesses that talks about not needing a man, lol. I liked the concept. Although I'm not sure DD needs a book to know all of this-all she has to do is look at her mama! She knows her mom knows how to use the power tools, and her daddy doesn't. LOLZ.

The whole "I'm a pretty princess" thing came completely out of left field recently, I think because my MIL introduced her to Cinderella. She still picked the dinosaur lunchbox for school, though.Big Smile

I think this book might be called "Tatterhood" but it's not terribly new, I believe it was published in the 70s.  Your daughter reminds me of my friend's daughter- one of her little friends was running around with a wand telling everyone "now you are a fairy princess!"  She said "No I'm not! I'm a T-Rex!"e
