dh and i are planning to try next month for number two. what is your plan for sleeping arrangements. i prefer to not buy a crib since dh built the first one.

I know you said you didn't want to buy another crib but honestly both of mine are still in cribs. A 2nd crib was essential for us, just knowing #1 was "contained" during bedtime and naptime helped ease my mind.
We will do the same with #2 and #3 since we already have 2 cribs, but #1 will go to a single bed soon.
I think I am out of the norm on this one but...
We transitioned dd to a toddler bed at 17 months and a twin bed at 18 months. She took to them both really well and she is still contained in her room with the baby gate at the door. I did not want 2 cribs for such a short period. I love it now with her in the twin bed when she needs comforting at night i can just hop in bed with her and she doesn't come into our room at all now.
Okay, I'm out of the norm on this one too as I transitioned my oldest into a toddler bed at 12 months. She has been in it for 6 months now with no issues. I love it and am so glad we did it when we did. I plan to do the same thing with the little one at 12 months.
