New to The Bump

New to bump

Hi, I'm new to bump in the pre TTC phase we are talking about starting soon. I just started here and have already experienced some weird/rudeness from people. Strange.... won't be on this much longer if that keeps up... but other than those people I'd love to get connected with others TTC, newly married ect.

About me: I got married a little over a year ago and we just had a big wedding recently. I have PCOS and my husband has something called varicoceles, if you aren't familiar its something to do with swollen veins in the scrotum. So we'll see how long this journey takes for us : )

Right now we use condoms when we think I'm ovulating but no biggie if we did end up getting pregnant, I'd just really like to reach my goal weight first.

Re: New to bump

  • Welcome.

My biggest advice is lurk, lurk, and lurk some more. Some boards are very tight-knit. Some require an introduction. Some have unwritten rules about posting. Some are more snarky than others, some have FAQs and get tired of answering newbie questions. It is what it is. Once you've lurked and you're ready to post, lurk a little longer and get the vibe of the board. There are some I just don't visit because of rudeness or redundancy, while others feel more like home.

GL with your DH's varicocele. Is he having surgery or taking a wait and see approach?

Thanks for the advice on the boards. My husband is not planning on having surgery yet. Apparently his dad had the same thing and was able to heal it with some medication. They had him do some test where you stand up and sit down to measure blood flow or something and apparently it is the less severe/treatable type. So we'll see. Also my husband isn't from here and likes to go to doctors where he is from so he is waiting to discuss it with a doctor from there for all his options. Wow, long answer sorry: )

  • Hi and welcome :)

I definitely agree with Dr. Loretta...you have to lurk and get a feel for the board. It might not seem right, but a lot of posters have "earned" their way into the board's rapport and sometimes when newbies try to disrupt the equilibrium (so-to-speak) it can cause a little feather ruffling.

Just lurk and get a feel for the board you would like to participate in :) I'm guessing you'll probably want to start posting on the "Trying to get Pregnant" board. I post there and TTTC a lot...so feel free to PM (private message) me if you need anything :)

    Good luck!

  • Welcome! I'm sorry you ran into some rude people. Even on the boards I visit alot there are one or two people who are a little snarky, but for the most part The Bump is a great site.

    Good luck TTC!
