Had our first court appearance today

Well the docket started at 9:30, and we were the first people called. The judge asked why EX hasn't completed the parenting course yet, and he was all making up lame excuses. We were ordered to complete mediation and given the papers and then dismissed. Overall it was quick and painless....until we left the courthouse. My dad was waiting outside for me, and on the way out EX tried starting shii with me. I played it cool; we just ignored him and kept walking. EX looked like a complete fool screaming across the courtyard. I just wish they had guards or officers outside to do something. Maybe arrest him for disturbance of the peace? lol He is so effing ridiculous.

    Did you both have attorneys? Did you have to speak? I'd like to hear more about how it went because I have a court date coming up as well.  How are you handling visitation before mediation?

    Ewwww, that's so embarassing!  SD did something similar to me when I was leaving Starbucks after collecting CS from him.

    I know, it was kind of awkward. At least there weren't many people around.

    Well it's kind of a long story, but EX is a drug addict and alcoholic, so I have been keeping him away from DD. He hasn't seen her since last summer. Neither of us have attorney's at this time. I took the free route and filed for child support through the county prosecuter's office. Custody and visitation will also be resolved, as long as we can come to an agreement in mediation. If he wants to fight me, then we will go to court for an actual hearing on October 24. I will get a lawyer at that point in time.

    I'm in a similar situation, STBXH also does drugs/booze.  So the judge didnt order visitation between now and when/if you can work anything out in mediation? Is your ex okay with not seeing LO?

    I'm in a similar situation, STBXH also does drugs/booze.  So the judge didnt order visitation between now and when/if you can work anything out in mediation? Is your ex okay with not seeing LO?

    He's definitely not okay with it. (We've had to move, change phone numbers, etc). If he put as much action behind improving his life as he puts into harrassing my family and friends, he'd be in a much better place. I told him the only way I wanted to hear from him is email, but he hasn't bothered emailing me.

    Anyway, the judge didn't order anything besides for us to go to mediation. On October 24 is when she will order child support/custody/visitation. When we go to mediation I'm requesting sole physical and legal custody, and supervised visitation once per week. Who knows what will happen. I hope he will just agree to it.

    I think its great the judge didnt do anything about visitation for the in the meantime.  I think our attorneys are trying to work something out that we can agree on before we have our first court appearance and the judge will sign off on it and then mediation to decide a full parenting plan.  I wish I could keep STBXH away from LO until mediation, but I dont think it works that way here.

     But, if your ex is not okay with seeing your daughter then why isnt he emailing you about her? That's weird.  How has he been harassing you?

    He was in jail for most of the past year. He facebooks people I know and threatens them for info about me and DD. I tried to get a restraining order but the judge denied it. He's been pretty quiet for the last few months though.
