OPK knowledgable ladies

I thought I remembered from my TTCAL days that you could use an OPK to test for pregnancy if obviously you knew you weren't ovulating.  I know that's a complicated question but I am on day 2 of my new pack of BC and haven't started yet, which is very unusual for me.  There are other reasons I think I am KU don't have time to explain right now but I would be like 8-9 weeks pg.  OPKs were definitely positive this morning so I went and bought a pregnancy test, there weren't directions for holding it in a cup of already collected urine so I just held it for as long as it said to in the stream and it came back negative.  I really don't know what's going on with my body right now and I am kinda freaking out.  In the last 8-9 weeks I went under general anesthesia I have had a few nights of drinking and have been taking bc.

  • I think I remember hearing you could use OPKs (but I am not sure). Maybe retest with FMU.

  • I would retest in the morning and if it is still negative I would call your doctor to request a blood test (don't let them test your urine, it is the literally the same thing you do at home so it is a waste of money).

  • I found out I was pregnant b/c I had a positive OPK.  I immediately took a PG test and it was positive as well.  So yeah, if you were THAT far along, it would be positive.

That's odd that you would test positive for high LH at this point in your cycle. Do you have a history of PCOS by chance? Your hormones being jacked up could be why you haven't started yet too. It's possible the BCP's didn't work and you are going to ovulate, which would also explain why you haven't started your period.

If you were 8-9 weeks pregnant, the pregnancy test would be positive. You can get a blood test done if you would like- that would also give them to opportunity to test other hormone levels to determine what may be going on when that comes back negative.

    This.

Though I do remember someone doing an experiment with HPTs when they were obviously pregnant. I don't remember how far along, but they actually had to drink tons of water to dilute their urine to get a +. I think. It was over a year ago, so I don't remember the specifics.
