Iron Drops for LO

So after our 9 month checkup we were told to start giving DS iron supplements (he had blood drawn and was below the recommended lines), but I can't get him to take them! They suggested to give him an acidic juice with it to help absorb the iron but he wants nothing to do with any kind of juice. We tried mixing it with water, also a no go. Right now we are just giving it straight out of the dropper (which they don't recommend for some reason, might be because it is easier to stain their teeth this way??). Any ideas on getting this guy to take his medicine?

    DS doesn't take the iron drops, but he takes the multivitamin drops because he's become somewhat picky at mealtime. DS eats yogurt with his breakfast and we mix the drops into the yogurt. He doesn't notice and eats it up! Maybe mix it into something wet (puree, yogurt, pasta sauce) that he eats regularly?
