Anyone's Weight Not Changing?

Has anyone else not lost any weight since the initial loss after giving birth?

I'm stuck about 20 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight and cannot lose it. I exercise (twice a day now, both cardio and strength), eat really well and am nursing. There has been no change. Not even a couple of pounds difference - it will not budge. It's extremely frustrating to have zero results. Anyone else in the same boat? Any thoughts on why it might be happening?

  • Yep. I am right there with you. My doctor told me that some women don't really lose all the weight till they stop breastfeeding (which I really hope isn't true, because I'd like to BF for a year!) I am starting Weight Watchers to see if that helps...

  • I'm right there with ya. However, I am lazy, and haven't been exercising consistently, and when I have it's just brisk walking. I'm also nursing, and my mom didn't lose any baby weight until after she finished, so maybe that's my unfortunate destiny.

  • Unfortunately, that's what I was thinking as well.. That I'm one of the lucky few who will not lose the weight until I'm done breastfeeding. Sad Oh well! I'm just thankful that I have a healthy baby.

  • I haven't lost a pound since her birth. Still 20lbs above pre-pregnancy weight... And I've been doing weight watchers, still nothing. My pp check up is tomorrow and if all is good I will start running and riding my horse again, instead of just walking. Hopefully that'll help! Cause this weight is driving me nuts!!

  • I'm in a similar boat...but only occasional walking. (We are in the middle of a cross country move and living with my parents while we renovate a house, as well as some emotional stuff, exercise is just low on the priority list right now.) I gained 50, lost 30 at birth, and stuck with the last 20, even though nursing and eating well. Ugh.

I'm guessing that its hormonal, once they level out fully, though at 7 weeks I'm getting more and more nervous.

  • Me. I work out 5-6 days a week doing an hour of cardio (at least) in addition to strength training. I eat healthy, my body has just always hated me when it comes to weight loss though so I figured even though I stayed active throughout my pregnancy and have been working out since 7 days PP I would be one of the lucky ones that won't be back to my pre-pregnancy weight for probably a year.  I was at the lowest weight of my adult life when I got pregnant though so I can't expect it's going to happen over night.  I've had random strangers at the gym comment on how fit I look though and that I definitely don't look like I just gave birth 6 weeks ago.  I am still about 30 pounds above my pre-pregnancy weight. :(
  • Yes I lost 20lbs within days of giving birth and nothing since. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have not had the time to work out like I should be though so I've been blaming it on that. I hope that once I get back into my usual routine I will see more results, I know it won't happen as quickly as I would like it to.

  • What is even more frustrated is seeing all these pregnant celebs have these PERFECT BODIES right after having babies, wth!?

I'm still WAY over my pp body, like 60 lbs over.  I get seriously bummed... I think I'll be in maternity clothes forever!

Yep, me too! I'm stll in maternity pants because I'm too cheap/can't afford to buy new bigger pants. I think I'll have to break down and buy some soon.

Yes and my doctor said the same thing about the breastfeeding. She said we don't lose as much as FF moms at first but if you look a year out we end up losing more and keep it off more often.

  • yep yep yep same here :(

I never heard the BF thing and now im upset!

One of the reasons i started BF was because people said it makes the weight come off! UGH
