So I know that I probably shouldn't even be thinking about this now but...
I want to either start an ESA or 529 for my DD for her 1st b day. And basicly the deciding factor is how expensive preschool and or headstart will be. If its something that we could just tighten up the budget and pay for then great we will get a 529. But if it is expensive we will do an ESA so that I can use funds from that to help pay for it.
Where I need your help is I have no idea what/where there are schools in the area so that I can price them out so to speak. I have tried searching on the internet and haven't come up with much.
TIA!
Re: Preschools or Headstart in Kalamazoo area
Headstart is a free program to families who qualify and many schools have a GSRP (Great Start Readiness Preschool) which is also free to those who qualify. Headstart programs don't require their lead teachers to have a bachelor's degree, only a CDA (Child Development Associates) where a GSRP program requires a bachelor's degree and early childhood education focus. If you go to the kresa.org website and look under the heading of school districts, you will find a list of all the school districts in Kalamazoo county. Then you would have to go to each school's website to look for preschool programs. You might also be able to find information on the MDE website under GSRP or Headstart. They usually have a list of schools who have these programs. (I teach GSRP in GR, so I know several different locations in Kent County otherwise I would be more specific about Kzoo)
The only places that usually charge for preschool are private schools (either private school districts, childcare centers, and or schools that wouldn't be your "home school" once your child enters school).
