It plays classical music for five minutes, and after two rotiations, DD is OUT. When she's having "I'm so tired" meltdowns, we go to the glider and play the seahorse and it just soothes her into calm.
I kept hearing about the magical seahorse when DD1 was born. She didn't care for it at all. But DD2 *loves* it and falls asleep to it every night and after each night time feeding. I'm so happy at least one of my kids took to it It's worth a shot!
We use ours so often, DH used it once to help himself sleep! I don't know why, but if DS is fighting sleep, a few rounds of the seahorse will put him out. He seems to like the glow (if he can't see it, it takes a lot longer to put him to sleep). And it's cheap.
DS LOVES his seahorse. It's the only thing that will put him to sleep immediately. It's also the only toy he reaches out for. We got it 2 days after we came home from the hospital, and had to change the cheap batteries it comes with at 5 weeks, but it's going strong now.
DD LOVES her seahorse! Some nights it will take up to six rounds to get her to sleep, but it definitely soothes her. I actually like it too. Due to our living situation, we're sharing a room and some nights I'll put it on an extra time or two to help me fall asleep.
I have showed it to Olivia 3 times now and she show little interest in it. Twice at Target and once at BRUs. She prefers her shankie over everything even the Sophie.

You mean you just showed it to her in the box at a store? Yeah, DD wouldn't care about that either. She doesn't have an interest in the toy, it's the music that calms her to sleep. And if she's not tired, she doesn't care about it.
It's purely as a sleep aid at this point, not a toy.
LO loves it. It doesn't put him to sleep, but he loves to "talk" to it and stares at the light like he has never seen anything so wonderful. Of course, he talks to his other animals too, so it's not only the seahorse he is in love with.
It is really good at calming him down when he is fussy or cranky. His other stuffed animals don't do that, lol. For $15 at Wal Mart, you really can't go wrong.
Re: Seahorse?
I bow to the seahorse.

We have a spare. And another at my mom's.
