I was on antibiotics for 2 weeks where I couldn't give my LO breast milk, so I had to giver her formula. In that time she started eating a lot more. She eats about 6oz now. When I pump i get about 4oz sometimes 5oz. I just pumped a little bit ago and only got 2oz. I don't know if my supply is drying up. And also how do I produce more milk to keep up with what she wants? I've been giving her whatever I pumped and then if she is still hungry giving formula. Also, another weired question, I keep getting sharp shooting pains in my boobs. It hurts so bad! Does anyone else have this?
Yes to the sharp pains! Most likely it's your breasts filling back up, at least that is what I've been told.
Try eating lots of protein, drink a ton of water, take fenugreek, eat oatmeal, and nurse, nurse nurse. Or pump, pump pump. Keep pumping even after your milk stops coming out. The more you demand, your supply should pick up!
Do you nurse directly at all or only pump? Babies work better than pumps to increase supply. If you EP, then get on the pump often. Like 8-10 times a day.
I kept thinking my supply was horrible but to know that the "average" person gets only 1.5-2oz per breast a session, woohoo me. I am normal.. LOL!! Thanks for posting
