3rd Trimester

over the counter...boy or girl!?

Has anybody tried the over the counter gender test? I work at a CVS and they sell a test in the "family planning" section and it is suppose to tell you the gender of your child as early as 6 weeks. Has anybody tried this or something similar? And were the results correct, when you actually found out the gender at your OBGYN?

Re: over the counter...boy or girl!?

  • I think it's a 50/50 chance of getting correct results.

  • I took 2

    One said boy
    One said girl

Obviously one was right, and one was wrong :)

  • Google : Baking soda.

Pee on it (I think it's like .58 cents for a small box)

If it fizzes its a girl, or something.  (Google)

This is something for you to pee on that doesn't cost $40.

  • The people that make those tests must make a TON of money! The tests are nowhere near being accurate but people keep buying them anyway.
  • I did it, just for fun to see if it would be correct, and it was not... well hopefully! haha.  It said Boy but I've had 2 difference confirming ultrasounds since then that I'm having a Girl!!

  • I did buy the inteligender test, just for fun, and it said boy and was right for me. But 3 of my friends that are pregnant now bought it and it all said boy for them and they are all 3 having girls...so it is still 50/50.

I always wonder if people actually believe the "gender predictor" tests and quizzes, because quite honestly I have a very explicit ultrasound picture that pretty much guarantees it's a boy...and I still don't trust it.

  • Why people even entertain the idea of buying these tests is beyond me. I'll never understand it.

    THIS.

God these are such a scam.  Send me $30 and I'll guess for you.

Do a google search or a Bump search on these things.  They are literally ripping customers off.  If you're OK with that, then kudos!

  • I spend the $43 for it and it was inconclusive.  What a waste of money.  In the end another u/s confirmed I was having the girl they said I was. Don't waste your  money even if you may have an employee discount.

  • I tried the Intelligender and although they say there is nothing in your urine to determine either way mine was correct! HTH!
