Food Allergy

elimination diet- how to introduce wheat??

I am suppose to introduce wheat back into my diet tomorrow and am not sure how.  Does anyone know of anything that is strictly wheat?  I was thinking noodles but all of them that I find say there may be traces of egg in them so I don't want to use those. Any helpful ideas?

Re: elimination diet- how to introduce wheat??

  • Did you get directions on how you need to introduce each food? Do you have the allergy or are you BFing and your kiddo has the allergy? Or, are you reintroducing it in your child?

When I was on an ellimination diet (not for BFing - I was reacting to everything) and it was time to phase things back in, I had specific directions for doing so. I had to smell the food, wait 20 minutes. Then, it was something like place it in my mough and then immediately spit it out and wait 20 minutes. Then, chew, spit it out, wait 20 minutes. Eventually, if I was reaction free I was able to actually eat 1 bite and wait for a reaction.

But, if you're not the one with the allergy, it might be very different. Long story short, I'm not sure - but I would give your allergist a call. Good luck!

  • I am breastfeeding and reintroducing to see if my DS reacts to it in my milk.  I have not been to see an allergist yet as my lactation consultant is trying to manage this first.  I did not recieve very specific instructions either so it's been a bit frusterating trying to figure this all out.  At this point we don't think there are actual allergies rather more of an intolerance issue with foods.
  • Hopefully someone else might chime in with some advice then. DS was already done BFing by the time we discovered his allergies so we never had to try and reintroduce them. Good luck!
