Come on over to the fall side :-) It's cooler here.
I saw them this morning but alas, no Mario :-( I think I'm going to make it myself anyway. I don't like any of the cheapo polyester ones I've seen.
Button was Mario last year. We made his costume because we didn't like the store bought ones.
The trickiest part was his mustache. But we got lots of compliments on our ingenious idea!
BRILLIANT!!! I was thinking there was no way he would keep one on, but I may be able to trick him with this. He's always stealing Sophie's paci's anyway. What about the hat? Did you make it too? I found one online for $17 and I'm thinking of just buying it to be done w/ it. The red shirt and overalls are no biggie b/c he'll wear those again. Gloves are going to be iffy to get him to wear so I'm not planning on spending a lot on those. So if I'm only out $17 for a hat, then I'm a happy camper.

DH did a lot for the costume. He's the gamer in the house and knew what he wanted things to look like. We bought some kid costume gloves at Party City. And I stuffed the finger tips with tissue. They didn't stay on long, but I got pictures. For the mustache, at Michaels, I found this foam stuff that had sticky stuff on one side. So I cut out the shape and stuck it to the paci. DH found the hat on line and I bought felt (white & red), cut it out and sewed it on. To keep the hat on, I bought a plain mask from Michaels, took the elastic band off it and attached it to the hat. Surprisingly, he kept the hat on for a bit. So not including the shirt and overalls, I think we spent maybe $15 for everything. Oh, and we got him one of these to carry around - https://www.tintoyarcade.com/product_images/u/tta2182_green_super_mushroom_candy_super_mario__41068.jpg (sorry not clicky)
It was a very easy costume to put together. And it looked great!
