My first + OPK!!!

This is our first month using OPK and our 3rd month TTC.  I started testing at 8dpo and saw faint lines.  I know faint = negative.  Then yesterday the line was darker than the previous days but still negative, so I thought I could be experiencing a "fade in".  Then today, it was as dark as the control line, maaaaaaybe a little darker!!  A + OPK!!!  Sooooo exciting to me! We had sex last night, will do it again tonight and again tomorrow!  It's just ecxiting to me to have the OPK telling me something useful so I thought I would share!  Would you double up on sex tomorrow?  Like maybe once AM and once PM?  Just curious as to what you would do.  Thanks!

    Read the directions on the OPK kit. It should tell you when you should be expected to ovulate. Most of them are 12-72 hours of seeing the dark line.

    The one I was using said 12-24 hours ovulation should begin. So we BD that day and the next.

    Sorry, I am so confused by this post. Maybe I'm missing something? You started testing using OPK's 8DPO? Did you mean CD8?

    You can if you want.  It's not necessary though.  There are a lot of ladies that have EOD sex during their most fertile time and achieve pregnancy.  Just remember, without temping, you cannot be entirely sure that you are ovulating; even with a positive OPK.  Fertility Friend is an excellent tool and I would recommend clicking the newbie link at the top of the page as well.  HTH!

    WOO HOO Congrats hope something amazing happens:) I am new to the TTC we just started trying last month. I am so anxious to become preganant that I have been doing a lot of research. From my reading sex should happen everyother day due to the man needing to build up his sperm count. Also sperm can live in the woman's body up to 3-5 days so every other day is best. They say its best 2 days before and the day after ovulating. Also I have read amazing reviews on Preseed Lubricant, its a sperm friendly lube that actually makes a better environment for the sperm, helping the sperm get to the egg. Most reviews I saw women were getting pregnant after the first time using it. I just bought it, and glad the OPK worked for you. I am on CD 2 and counting down the days to test. Best of luck!!!

    Yes, sorry. I meant CD 8, not 8DPO.  Thank you for pointing that out, Smile

    I should have just assumed, but on this board, you never know! :)

    Usually when I get a +opk, I BD for the next 3 or 4 days, once a day, just to be sure. I'm not sure about twice a day though. I guess if it's one day, it wouldn't matter too much as long as your SO doesn't have any known sperm count issues.

    This is my 2nd month temping.  I use FF too, but with it being my first month using OPK's, it's the first time I have been able to really see that I am "potentially" about to O.  I will check it againts my temps in a few days.  Thank you though!!

    Nice! I know how you feel, I got my first + OPK last week, very exciting!  I think I read somewhere that every day or every other day is often enough, but if you want to do it twice a day, I'm sure that's fine too :)  Have fun!!

    I agree, it's good to see something positive in the trying times.

    It's my first month TTC as well and I'm just charting and temping right now. But I think I'm going to get into the OPK's next month if AF shows up this month.
