DH and I have considered using Home Depot and Lowe's for doing some home improvement projects, but are also looking at smaller companies.
Do you have any experience with companies with reasonable prices, good service, etc.?
This is what we want to have done:
Bathroom:
new tub, tiling done on walls in tub/shower, new fixtures, maybe painting room
Kitchen:
counters, sink, hood, fixtures, maybe backsplash
Re: What company for home improvement (not chains)
I didn't realize this until I thought about it just now but we didn't use the big box stores at all in our kitchen remodel except for our paint and cabinet knobs! We did look at both Lowes/HD and these other stores before landing on these companies:
Tiles for backsplash, counters, stainless steel sink - Ohio Tile
Lighting - Lighting EFX
Hood - Ours was a kit to look like the cabinets so we got them from Kelly Brothers but all of our other appliances came from Hagedorn Appliances and so they're likely to sell regular hoods.
