Glider vs. Rocking Chair

I am debating between getting a glider for the nursery or using a rocking chair my husband's grandmother is giving us.   I plan on nursing for awhile.  Does anyone have any experience with either?

 Thanks!

Re: Glider vs. Rocking Chair

  • We had the same decision to make and ended up with a glider. It's much wider and way more comfy, especially now that he's a toddler. We still do bedtime stories in it and we both sit up there together.

  • We have one of each and the glider is much more comfy.  If you can get an ottoman with it as well, I would def. recommend that, too.  We still use our glider for snuggles and DS is 3y. 3m.
  • between the 2 I would say a glider for sure. That is what we have and I do like it a lot because it is wide enough to be roomie and it worked well with a boppy/breastfriend pillow for nursing.

If I had to do it again I would even think about doing something larger like a lazyboy type chair.

This is what we did.  I am so glad too, I have spent plenty of nights asleep in it with her and there is plenty of room for both of us in it.

Due to space issues, we actually kept our lazy boy in DS's room.  We're glad we did.  We bought a glider (wood with cushions) and always went to the lazy boy.  It was fabulous...  it rocked and we could recline if we needed to.  DH spent a few nights in DS's room and I know he was glad to have that chair.  When DS started climbing on the lazy boy like crazy and scaring me, we took that chair out of his room and sold the glider.  If baby #2 ever enters the picture, we'll just use that lazy boy... no glider needed.  We found the lazy boy super comfy for us and a nice place to hold DS.

  • Thanks everyone.  I was leaning towards the glider but now I am defiantly getting one.
