Post progesterone ladies

Just wondering if any of you are having side effects after going off progesterone. I had my last suppository last Thursday the day of my first OB appt and they were all good with that being it was 9 weeks and 1 day and my u/s was really good.

Obviously I have extreme nervousness because I have low progesterone issues, hence why I was on it. However since going off I've had more cramping and a major migraine. I haven't had one this bad in almost 2 years. I was also pretty regular with my bowels and I've stopped right  up to the point where I almost got sick last night. I put a call into my OB to check with the side effects of coming off, see what I can do for my constipation and get a script for pregnancy safe migraine pills.

Just wondering if I'm the only one out there experiencing stuff.

  • I'm staying on my progesterone until 11 weeks but I'm also interested in any answers to this question.  I can't wait to stop using them, but I'm also a little bit nervous.

  • I thought we weren't supposed to go off till 12 weeks??  But I am on pills, not suppositories...  Maybe that makes a diff?  When I went in, doc and I didn't even TALK about the progesterone, but I see him Weds.  Guess I'll ask then if I should stop taking it already?  I am looking forward to going off of it.  It makes me WAY more sick and feel like I am dragging a car behind me.

  • My RE only put me on until 9 weeks. I had been taking it 3 days post ovulation until 9 weeks and 1 day. Apparently that is all that you need but I would have been thrilled to take it until 12 weeks and I asked they said it wasn't necessary. Needless to say I freak out over every twinge and check each time I go to the bathroom for blood.

My nurse just called me back in under an hour (yay for new OB, one point!) and she said she's never had anyone call for side effects coming off. I told her about my more cramping, she didn't seem to think that was odd. :( But she said the migraine is totally normal because I'm coming off a hormone. I have a script waiting for me at CVS for the future.

So....not too much news. :( I really wish I had enough for 12 weeks. ::sigh::

I don't think it is necessarily the same for everyone.  There are different reasons for using progesterone supplements.  Just listen to your doctor and you should be fine!

  • Yeah!  Bonus points for new OB!  LOL;0)  I know how you feel.  I am scared to go off it, regardless of when we're supposed to and even KNOWING it's ok(did same for DS;0).  I DO know that everything I've read says the placenta takes over in the 9th week and I Did get changes in symptoms that week....  So I'm SURE everything is totally fine.  No doc would take anyone off that they weren't 100% sure it was time. But it is DEFINITELY a security blanket I don't wanna take off.  LOL  But, I also don't want to take it if I don't need it, either....

Yea I want my blanket back. Even with the panty liners and stuff oozing out.
