Beach and stroller

We have an umbrella stroller and a regular sized Chicco stroller.  I'm wondering if these are going to be difficult to use on the beach.  Would a jogging stroller with the big wheels be better?  There's the option of renting a stroller so we wouldn't end up using as much trunk space.  I would really just like to go with the umbrella but we need a way to get to the beach and keep her contained lol.

Re: Beach and stroller

  • We are running into this same issue. The house we rented is 4 blocks from the beach. We have 2 Chico strollers. Neither works well in the sand. We just decided that he is going to sit in our big hiking backpack and DH will carry him this way on his back as we walk to the beach. This hopefully will work well since we both will have free hands to carry all of our stuff.

I haven't had luck with any stollers on the beach. But I would assume that bigger wheels would be your best option. But if the umbrella stroller will work better for packing, you might just have to roll it as far as you can go and then carry the stroller to wherever you decide to park it on the beach.

    Good luck!

  • Do you have a wagon? Ours has huge off-road tires on it & is amazing in the sand!

  • No way an umbrella stroller is going thru the sand.  If you bring that, plan on carrying her and the stroller, and just using it at your spot as a place for her to sit and keep her contained.  Our BOB went thru the sand decent, but even that was easier to pull behind us that to push.
