How did you...

Transition LO to their crib, or at least their own room??  LO is just over 3 months and still sleeping in a fisher price sleep n play rocker right next to the bed.  I've tried to get him to nap in his crib but he hates it, what should I do??  TIA

We moved DD to her crib at 2 months. We didn't do much as far as transition; we just put her down in her crib one night and have been doing so every night since. Once in awhile, I would put her in the crib while I was folding laundry in her room, but that's it. She does fight taking naps in her crib, but sleeps great at night.

  • We just did it, and she was fine.

FWIW - she has never napped well in her crib, but sleeps beautifully there at night.

  • My LO really liked the contoured changing pad so we bought another one and put that in his crib. Sleeps like a baby :)

This is my daughter exactly. She fights napping in the crib but seems to understand bed time and goes down well. I would just try it and be consistent. I think that's what really helped us. We try and do the same routine, I nurse, sometimes read, swaddle, seahorse on, pacifier, down in crib.  Good luck!

This is us also. He sleeps wonderfully at night in his crib (7-8 hrs his first stretch; 3-4 the next stretch) but won't let me put him down in the crib for his naps. Now my MIL has been here 2 days and has managed to get him to lay down for a nap in his crib both days....brat..lol

  • We started by taking naps in the crib at 6 weeks, then ate 7 weeks we starting putting LO down for night time in the crib and we didn't have any issues.

We do tummy time in his crib sometimes and play during the day in there because I would LOVE if he's wake up happy in his crib instead of freaking out.  It seems to be working, this week we had much happier 'wake ups.' (I read this idea in the Baby Whisperer book)

DD slept in her rock and play until about 1.5 or 2 months (cant remember)

I started with naps in her pack and play (her crib is upstairs and im not ready to put her up there yet- and its way too warm in our upstairs right now) - but anyways, we started with naps because it was the lesser of two evils when I knew she would wake up quicker. And we just stuck with it. She eventually learned to love it.

However now we seem to have an onset of silent reflux so she is back in her rock and play to help with that a bit at night. But still trying to nap in pack and play once a day (or more if she does well that day) so we know when she can tolerate nights again in there.

  • We have the sleep giraffe thing. It's like the sleep sheep but a girafee. It seemed to help with the transition.
