I just called BCBS and she said that as long as your birth was with an in-network nurse midwife, that it would be covered 100% just like a hospital birth. I asked specifically about homebirth, not birth centers, but I assume it would be the same. She mentioned that this was a benefit they they recently started offering again, so, yay!

    Seriously?! OMG, thank you for posting this!!!! I'm going to call them today and confirm all this. I was trying to make myself my accept the hospital option but was feeling really blue about it ($4000 out of pocket vs $150 co pay was just too much since my husband still has student loans and I'll be on leave without pay for 12 weeks). This gives me hope. Thank you so much!!
