BabyWise: what adjusted age to start?

My peanuts are 6 weeks old today, and will be 40 weeks gestational age tomorrow.  I have been still setting my alarm clock for every 3 hour feedings at night.

What age did you start BabyWise to stop waking them up at night and start letting them wake up on their own to eat?  I did BabyWise with GREAT success with DD and I am dieng to get started!

  • if you are feeding every 3 hours- then you are doing babywise already :)

we started to let them sleep as long as they could at 5 weeks old (mine were born at 38w).... at 8 weeks they had dropped their night bottles and were STTN from approx 10pm-7am.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • yeah, but the hard part now is getting them to stay awake after eating.  A couple more weeks makes sense as they don't seem ready.
  • mine took a LONG time before they had a lot of awake time... I"d try - but if it was just for 5-10 minutes, that was fine with me.

  • I didn't start doing Babywise until they were 6 weeks adjusted.  Before that they really do need to eat every three hours at night.  The tough part about preemies is that you're in that newborn stage a long time and it can really wear on you.

My pedi told me when it was ok to stop waking them at night, so you could ask if that helps give you peace of mind. My kids woke up like clockwork every 3hrs at night til they were 8 weeks (actual) anyway. Once mine hit 40wks I started the day routine of babywise. Before that I was ignoring the clock like it says to do for te first 2 weeks.
