anyone use care.com to find childcare? I have to go back to work mid august and need to find childcare for my son, my husband and I work weird hours so daycare isnt an option and thought maybe care.com would be a good way to find a sitter.
any insight would be great
Re: care.com
We used them and have no problem with our person. My DD adores her.
I also had a great experience with care.com but for a sitter, not full time care. Still, i think there are a lot of qualified people on there. I agree that posting your own ad is the best way to go. be specific about what you want.
As a side note, the 1st sitter we "hired" flaked on us, no showing the night of an event. I wrote a negative review on her profile. She deleted her profile and then popped up again with a new profile a couple days later. I emailed care.com and expressed my concerns. We had some back and forth via email, they investigated and ended up banning her from the site. I was so happy that they took my concerns seriously and that they want their site to have the utmost integrity!
Care.com is a great site to find a babysitter and I agree with everyone to post an ad (join the site) and weed out all the responses. It can be overwhelming, but it's definitely the way to go. You have to be a member to post a job and I ended up choosing the 3 month membership--just because I could stay on top of emails, other things I needed (I found a housekeeper through Care.com too) and see if there were any discount codes coming through for me to re-upgrade. There were about 2 months in and I decided to renew my membership.
Care.com has its own page for Houston, check it out and see if you see any familiar faces! I ended up hiring a nanny--it was more of what I was looking for, but you will definitely be able to find a great person for your LO. Good luck!
I can't believe that a quality site like care.com would come here and PIMP their business.

Please, care.com employee, let those people who use your site talk about it. Do not come here and pimp. If you want to promote your business, follow The Nest/The Bump's Terms of Service and Pay for advertising!
