Disposable diaper questions

We are going to be done with CD this month.  We just are having a hard time keeping the smell urine smell down, despite using the wetbags, with the 2 boys and I guess I am just sick of spraying poop (DH was sick of this a long time ago:), but hung in there).

Questions are:  What brand do you use and love? and where do you find the best deals?  We buy Wegman's brand for Evan to wear overnight and he has done well with them, so for him, we will stick with them until he is fully potty trained, but for Andrew I like the little color indicator line.

Re: Disposable diaper questions

  • We have used pretty much every brand because we got a ton of diapers at our baby shower.  When T was an infant, I really liked Pampers Swaddlers (they have the indicator line).  Around 10 months or so we switched to Luvs.  Huggies give her a rash as do Wegmans brand (which I just bought recently because they were on sale).

Sometimes Target and Wegmans have good deals on Luvs ($12.99 for a box).

  • I honestly feel the wetness indicator is silly....disposables get mushy/puffy when wet. No need to see a green line, you can tell just by feeling or looking. But if that is what you like, I think Pampers Swaddlers have it up 'til size 2 maybe. I am not 100% convinced drymax is bad, but R seems to get more rashes with it so we stay away.

I like babydry the best after swaddlers. We used swaddlers before drymax came out and switched when he outgrew them. I still prefer babydry to any other brand. We do use Huggies overnights for bed and like those too, but didn't like regular Huggies for day.

I have decided I don't like Target brand. They bunch weird when wet. I don't like Luvs because they are very loud and crinkly! haha

Wegmans were ok, a little bulky and an odd smell (almost bleachy). I don't buy them unless they are dirt cheap/free.

I got our last case from BJ's. Coupons made the diapers .01 cheaper per dipe than amazon. They are funny with coupons though, sometimes you can't stack more than 2 manu coupons with the BJs coupon.

I just got a friend 2 packs of 36 Swaddlers Sensative at CVS for $5 a pack, size 1 for her not yet born twins. Pretty good deal.

If your not into shopping around, Amazon is still the best if you use subscribe and save/Amazon Mom.

  • we used huggies at first, but once i realized how pricey they were we switched to bj's brand and never looked back!

I just like it right now, for middle of the night changes, as I have the lights super dim, check quick, change , nurse, back to bed :)...he is always wet right now, but the line confirms it :)

  • When E was a newborn/infant, I used the Pampers Swaddlers.

Now I use either Target or Wegmans brand... whichever place I happen to be at when he needs diapers is where I typically buy them. Or if I have coupons for either place.

I will buy Pampers or Huggies if I have a good coupon paired w/ a sale.

Evan used to sleep in the Huggies Overnight, but now that he doesn't drink milk before bed he doesn't need them.

I've tried Luvs, and hated them. They are scented (kind of like a baby powder smell) and it's so overpowering. Plus they gave E a diaper rash (maybe from the added fragrance) and he's never had a diaper rash before that.

I get that! =) If you don't have any coupons than I would order from Amazon.

I used Pampers swaddlers when Bub was a newborn. As he got older we tried about every brand out there and settled on Target brand for day and Huggies overnights for night. Love them both-no issues with either. GL!
  • when L was a baby I used the swaddlers until size 3 or so- then we switched to Huggies little movers after I tried 7th generation, luvs and some other brand...

I usually just go to target to get my diapers- I dont really shop around..

  • I loved Huggies little snugglers for the twins until they were about 2 months, then we alternate between luvs and pampers baby dry. I was a huge fan of Target diapers for Justin but (and I know I'm a wacko) don't like that they're blue & green for little girls, so I won't buy them for the twins.

  • We have used just about everything for Jules, except for Pampers with Drymax. Just didn't want to deal with the possibility of a nasty rash.  We usually use Luvs (never noticed a smell or noise) and I like that they are thinner, I think they make it easier for her to move.  We did a diaper research program and I think the diapers were from Aldi's and they were pretty good too, except the tabs weren't quite as stretchy as I'd like.  I feel like it's so hit and miss, we've actually been pretty lucky and haven't had any major issues with any particular brand.

  • My Dh is only likes Pampers Swaddlers/Cruisers.  He gets mad if I buy any other brand and refuses to put them on LO, other than Huggies Pull-ups.  He sends me out to buy the RIGHT diapers.
  • We started off with a bunch of different types of diapers.  When she was little, I like Pampers swaddlers the best.  Luvs leaked out the leg holes, huggies gave her awful rashes (and this was back when we were constantly changing her bc constantly nursing), target were ok but I hardly ever shop there, walmart I hated bc it seemed super thin and crappy, sams or bjs (I forget which one) I tried and didn't like also but I can't remember why...maybe it was just bc I was comparing them to the swaddlers which are so soft and cushy.  And oh dear god, we had some horrible brand, I think white cloud, someone gave us and I could not wait until that bag was over - I literally could only use them directly after a poop so that she would most likely only pee in them.

Because of the rashes, we never did try huggies ever again.  But once the swaddlers were outgrown I switched to baby dry and really liked them.  But since I was no longer tied to the soft swaddlers, I gave Luvs another try.  Her legs had beefed up by then and since they no longer leaked, we switched over for daytime use.  I kept using baby dry for nights for a long time, more bc I just thought they were softer and nicer quality.  But then I realized on the nights I worked, half the time DH used the luvs, so then I had no real reason to pay more anymore.  So we switched 100% over.

I'm not going to stock up in anything for baby #2.  I will probaby start off with luvs or maybe bjs brand and hope that cheap works fine from the get-go.  If not, I may try huggies just bc there are always coupons, but I do so love pampers as well.

  • We use Pampers a lot-the swaddlers and now the cruisers, and also their babydry for overnight. I tried Huggies but didn't like them at all-I felt like they always leaked on me. I tried Luvs and didn't care for them. Tried Target and Tops brands and didn't like those either. The Wegmans ones aren't bad IMO so I do buy those on occasion. I tend to buy the HUGE box of pampers and I get them at BRU or Target bc I can stack coupons there-BRU sometimes has a $5 off then you can use a mfr coupon as well. I just got a target coupon for pampers as well and will stack that with a mfr coupon for my next trip. I find their regular prices to be comparable. I think places like BJs/Sams are cheaper, but I only belong to Sams and they never have coupons.....so if I can stack coupons, it makes them cheaper than the club stores.
  • We are a pampers family.. Eve used swaddlers til she outgrew them and then we switched to baby dry (tried cruisers briefly but decided they weren't worth the price difference)

For N.. we have been using both the regular swaddlers and the swaddlers sensitive.. BUT.. I am going to be buying only the sensitive from now on.. The regular swaddlers have a REALLY strong chemically smell to me, especially when wet, which the sensitives don't have.. so I can't only assume that it is the "dry max" .. The whole dry max issue was non existant when Eve was in swaddlers but I dont' remember them smelling so bad.

  • I used Pampers Swaddlers with G and then Baby Dry.  Huggies leaked really bad, and I've heard the same thing from almost every mom that has a boy.  This time I started buying Swaddlers Sensitive to avoid the dry max issue, but now that they aren't going to be labeling their boxes at all with which have dry max and which don't, I'm just avoiding Pampers.  I'm planning to try Huggies Pure and Natural, which I've heard good things about with this little girl.  We'll see!  Good luck with your search.

The new boxes have a little chart on them showing absorbency, it has the drymax symbol for the diapers that have it. I saw a few of the new boxes at CVS yesterday. Babydry does not and will not have it.
