Baby boy has his first cold. It's not serious - he doesn't have a fever. But he's super congested and I've been having to suck snot out of his nose every couple of hours. He's a HUGE fan, of course. We tried taking him in the bathroom with hot water making lots of steam, and he seemed to like that. Anything else you recommend? How has your little one handled his or her first cold? Our son is his usual smiley self - just a lot more clingy with a lot more snot. I hope it's over soon!

Re: Has your baby been sick yet?
No advice, but I hope he's on the mend soon.
Thank you! It is horrible to have to come at him repeatedly with the snot sucker - he gives me the saddest how-could-you-do-this-to-me look.
I've had to use the snot sucker twice in her lifetime. The second time she totally knew what was coming and started screaming before I even used it.
My mother tells me I imagined that, but I know what I saw.
So far so Olivia hasn't had a cold or been sick. With 4 others in the house who go to school or work I am very surprised she hasn't gotten sick.
When my older children were sick we were able to give them cold meds so that made life easier back then. Not looking forward to the day Olivia has a cold.
Hope all your LOs get well soon.
Besides the hot water steam, we used a vaporizer and saline drops in his nose before we suck it out (yeah, our LO loved that too). Our pedi recommended both.
