Need Some Ideas...

What are you ladies doing with LO during the day? By about 10am it is too hot to be outside here and I'm running out of ideas to keep DS stimulated throughout the day. We go to the grocery store and Target, swimming, and the library sometimes. I'm trying to avoid the mall because it is always so crowded and people are so rude when I'm trying to navigate through there with the stroller. Any cheap, stimulating, air conditioned activities you all are doing with LO this summer?? TIA!

Re: Need Some Ideas...

  • Since he's starting to be mobile, he LOVES the tummy time activity center. But he's not usually on his tummy. He rolls around. He has also started reaching for things, so he likes to play with all of the toys that hang down from it.

He loves the bouncer and jumper that attaches to the door.

And we have a bumbo type thing with a tray with toys on it. He doesn't love that, but I use it.

I don't really have any ideas for other places to go... stay at home and save money! Big Smile

  • I'm in the same boat, pretty much. We stay inside a lot b/c it's so hot and HUMID here. We do tummy time (rolling around) on his playmat and also on a quilt.  He does the bouncer seat for a few minutes and sometime I put him in the jumperoo but just for a few minutes. The rest of the time is me just holding him- making funny faces, singing, talking, feeding, nursing, and napping. In the evenings if it's not too hot, I'll wear him in a carrier and take him on a walk.

Yeah, we are doing all of those things too. He just seems to get restless and fussy if we don't get out of the house plus I've noticed he seems to nap better if I can find something new/stimulating that will wear him out...hmm I'll have to keep thinking. If it cools down this week I'm going to try taking him to the zoo but we'll see. Thanks for the ideas!

I hear ya, girl! We do all those things but it eventually gets boring for both of us. The library is a great, free place. Also, I met some awesome moms on meetup.com and we get together in the afternoons 2-3 times a week for coffee, icecream, etc and it's great for me and DS. We do pool playdates at the pool and each others homes, too.

I've been looking on meetup.com but there just doesn't seem to be a lot going on in my area on that website...or at least not for babies, the groups on there are more for toddlers. I guess I need to start my own group!
