dairy/soy/egg/peanut/tree nut/sesame/shellfish free...what do you feed your LO?

My poor DS eats the same thing all the time.  Turkey burger, turkey meatloaf, fruit, hamburger, turkey hot dog (without nitrates or preservatives) ,he hates veggies, cereals that he can have, rice cakes.  I don't know what else to feed him and he needs more protein and calicum in his diet and veggies.  What do you serve in a typical day?

  • We eat a lot of lean meats and veggies. We are almost totally grain free. Stir fry, chili, lots of different veggie soups, stews. We love chicken in the crockpot with organic fresh salsa. Have you tried different dips, most kids will eat anything they can dip. Guacamole, etc?

  • Avocado, hummus, chick peas, black beans. Have you tried varying the veggies a bit? My son wont eat them grilled, but if I give him zucchini, squash, cucumber raw he eats it up.

Green Beans with a little olive oil goes over big.

    rice pasta w/olive oil

rice cakes that are thinner with hummus or fruit spread

    strawberries, blueberries, bananas

gluten free pancake/ waffles (arrowhead is our favorite brand)

chicken, salmon,  pork loin, bacon (he would bacon everyday if he could)

    rice yogurt has protein,

for treats we do organic ice pops or coconut ice cream.

    dried fruit

the Ian's brand (yellow box) are good for fast meals too. they have gluten free/ egg free dairy free etc. i THINK the website is iansnaturalfoods.com they have fries shaped like letters, fish sticks, chicken nuggets, mac and no cheese ( there is a TON of sodium in some, so we only do them 1 or 2 times a month)

  • Our only issue is dairy, so I don't know if this will work for you.  But I juice veggies, and my kids really like it.  You can put alot of veggies into one glass.  Today I made some from kale, carrots, apple, and some watermelon.  They gulp it down.  I don't think it replaces learning to eat vegetables at meals, but I do think it helps meet their nutritional needs.

  • My son's current meal plan

    Breakfast: Oatmeal with Flaxseed meal
Snack: Cheerios and 5-8 oz Rice milk
Lunch: "Almond Butter" Chex sandwiches  OR: "Almond Butter" Rice Crisp Balls (you can use sun butter) OR: Bagel with jelly
    Snack:Fruit
Dinner: Mac & chreese with Dayia cheese. Peas or broccoli OR: Pasta with red tomato sauce with peas. Peas or broccoli

5 out of 7 days, in addition -  guacamole, one Tyson dinosaur chicken finger or turkey sausage.

    Dessert: "So Delicious" ice cream
Before bed: 8 oz Rice milk

If he likes to eat rice, try making minute white rice in rice milk.. it's so much sweeter and you get extra calcium in it. I also add a dash of cinnamon.

My son LOOOooves guacamole. I use the real guacamole dish so it's more fun and dairy/soy free sweet potato chips for dipping.  (1 avocado, onion, tomato, salt, lime juice) -really loves this!  Good fats too

Yesterday was the first time he didn't want oatmeal for breakfast so i made him couple of crapes and put apple sauce inside.. (let me know if you want the crape recipe - really easy)

"So delicious" yogurt is a good one, but i never give it to him at night b/c he tends to get a sugar rush.
