I just noticed that our bottles have slits in the nipples. I'm assuming this is so they can pour the milk down LO's throat as quickly as possible. Obviously I'll be talking to them monday but I am so mad about this right now that I will probably be looking for new care. We aren't planning on giving cereal until closer to 5 or 6 months so that's not the reason for the slits. Also LO is breastfed except at daycare she's given pumped bottles so there isn't a reason to go up in nipple size either. This explains why they always mention how much she spits up. ARGH!!!!!
Re: I am LIVID! Daycare related
Somebody's head would be rolling, babies can seriously choke that way!
Keep up posted on what happens, I am just as livid for you. If anyone ever did that to DS it would be uuuuugly!
Why in the world would you tell a story like this right now? She's already upset about something that happened at DC, but my assumption is that she can't simply quit her job and stay home. Not everyone appreciates a horror story when it comes to putting their children in others' care.

This exactly. There are plenty of FANTASTIC day cares out there. I don't know what you were trying to accomplish by telling your horror story that is not the norm.
Wow...I would be seriously pissed, too. That's totally crossing the line...allowing a BF'ed baby access to a fast-flow nipple can cause serious problems when the baby goes back to the boob and has to work for milk. I hope you haven't had any of these problems? Even if you haven't, you should tell them that your baby has been rejecting the breast, just to make them see how serious an issue this is. They have no right to make that decision for you.
I have a friend whose daycare called her and asked her if she would switch to a faster slowing nipple, and she said no for the reasons I mentioned - she wanted the baby to work for the milk so that she would still breastfeed well. At least they asked, though! I'm interested to know how they explain this lovely decision of theirs. Good luck tearing into them Monday!
OMG I would be FREAKING the eff out on them! There is no reason for that. I don't care how long a feeding takes, that is their job!
Keep us posted.

That is awful! I had a similar situation.
I put slits in a few of dds nipples, because she has cereal in her formula to help with her reflux. This bottles are only meant for late afternoon and evening feedings. Well I notice those bottles kept going missing. My mother in law (who watches DD in the morning only) was keeping them, because she liked that she could feed DD quickly. Yet she was upset when DD started spitting up more.
This exactly!!! Once you've found a new daycare, I would file a complaint with the state department of licensing. This is unacceptable.
Read my post, and see that family isn't always so great of an option.
I guess not. I can see that too, i wouldn't want to leave my DD with my MIL cause she has brought up giving water in a bottle to noelle and mentioned giving her cereal at 2 months. No one knows my DD like i do and I feel no one would care for my baby like i would. its hard being a working mom, trusting your baby in someone else's hands.

I was actually wondering the same thing...that would maybe make it a little better.
Wow- that is horrible!
Landon will start daycare in a month. Oye.
