Baby Names

Need opinions on baby name!

I never knew naming a baby would be SO HARD!! I've always had my boy name picked out but I am pregnant with a girl and after searching up and down, online and in books, the only name I remotely like is "Alexa". Considering "Lexi" for short. What do you guys think about the name? Does it sound like a stripper?!! AHHHH so hard!

  • Bah, of course it doesn't sound like a stripper! If you named her Lexus, like the car, then you're getting into trouble territory, but Alexa is just as legitimate a name as Alexandra/Alexandria/Alexis/Alejandra, etc.

You're fine, and if that's the name you love, go for it.

I'm going to have to agree with this..

What about Alexis? nn Lexi would still work. :)

  • I've always liked Alexa, and I would just stick with that name.  No need for nn Lexi.

  • It doesn't make me think stripper, but since Alexis has been so popular, it feels outdated to me.

I know some people will say it sounds like a stripper, but I honestly never have heard or thought of this before I encountered this board.  I always liked Alexa.

    Agreed

  • I don't like it at all, sorry. The only 'alex' name I like for a girl is Alexandria or Alexandrie.

  • I'm not usually too harsh, but I have to agree...
  • Alexa is NMS but isn't a bad name.  Reminds me of Billy Joel's daughter.

I don't think of a stripper but I do really dislike the name. Especially the nn Lexi(e).. I don't know why, it's just kind of outdated to me like a PP said.

    Alexa is cute.
    Alexis.. NMS.

  • I thinks Alexa is pretty.  I have a cousin named Alexis and I don't see her as low class/stripper-ish.  But a friend of ours did name his daughter Alexus (Lexus) which I hate!  I think Lexi is a cute nn and when she's older she can always go by Alexa which sounds more grown up than Kinley/Kylee/Miley etc..
